Two Boots From 1995

These will be added to a new 1995 section when I get a chance but wanted to get these out there since they were a special request. These are for Graham from across the pond in Ireland. Both excellent shows with great sound quality!! Soldier Field Chicago, IL 1995 and Melbourne, Australia 3/17/1995. Enjoy the shows!! Peace.

Show notes from Two Feet Thick:
07/11/95 - Soldier Field: Chicago, IL [155m]
attendance: 47,000
support act: Otis Rush and Bad Religion
set: Release, Go, Last Exit, Spin the Black Circle, Tremor Christ, Corduroy, Whipping, I Got Shit, Dissident, Even Flow, Improv/Sick o' Pussies, Deep, Jeremy, Glorified G, Daughter/(This Boy)/(The Real Me)/(W.M.A.)/(ABitW-II), Animal, Habit, Jam/Lukin, Not for You, Little Wing (teaser), Elderly Woman, Immortality, Alive, Porch
enc 1: Everyday People, Let My Love Open the Door, Better Man, Rearviewmirror, Black, Blood
enc 2: Yellow Ledbetter
notes: First night Monkeywrench broadcast the show through the radio. The crowd is pumped, with people crowd surfing even during Otis Rush's set. Cool 'Tommy' riff after 'Lukin.' 'Black' lyrics are altered from "sun" to "moon" and Ed gestures to the full moon above the stadium. He jokes, "There's some fancy people in the skybox ... they're blinking to us, sending us a message up there." The crowd boos and he tells them not to get angry: "... you know life has a way of working itself out, you know? Think about this for a sec, right? These are the rich, fancy people, right? They got all the luxury, right? Looks to me, like they're the farthest ones away from the stage and they're behind a fuckin' window ... you hang in the trenches long enough, it pays off ..." Ed destroys his black Telecaster featuring the "skateboarding is not a crime" bumpersticker, smashing it against his mic stand. Producer Brendan O'Brien joins the band on keyboard for a surprising 'Everyday People' (a Sly and the Family Stone song) and then 'Let My Love Open the Door.' First lightning and later, fireworks, filled the sky this night. Amazing setlist and long performance with the pressure on in an intimidating venue.

Show notes from Two Feet Thick:
03/17/95 - Flinders Park Tennis Centre: Melbourne, Australia [128m]
attendance: 10,000
support act: The Meanies
set: Release, Last Exit, Spin the Black Circle, Tremor Christ, Corduroy, Not for You/Lukin, Animal, Glorified G, Daughter/(Stuff and Nonsense), State of Love and Trust, Why Go, Jeremy, Whipping, Immortality/Rearviewmirror, Alive, Black, Blood, Porch

notes: This show was broadcast on the Australian radio station, JJJ. Ed remarks: "It's not just us tonight, we're on the radio. I just thought I'd warn you, you know, if you, if you're s'posed to be at your friend's house spending the night, you weren't allowed to come, don't get your voice on the radio, we don't want you to get in trouble. Ah fuck it, get in trouble!" Later he says, "Fine bunch of mutants we got here We're all mutants up here, too." 'Jeremy' and 'Even Flow' are both sporting a new intros. Ed notes the full moon: "It's really too bad they couldn't open the roof in this place cuz there's a fuckin full moon out there that we're missing ... so if someone's out there listening to us in their car, stick your head out the window.. at home, go to the windows. Things happen in a full moon, good things, bad things, things happen." Ed gives his list of N.W. words/phrases. Reference is made to the poor security the previous night ("... we got the guys from last night the fuck outta here"). Ed acknowledges his wife, Beth: "She's back home, so it's not as if she's going to hear this on the radio, but it's me and Beth's 129 month anniversary today. And I'm going to sing the first line of this famous New Zealand song. This is for her. 'I've got you, and that's all I want.' [sings a couple bars of the Split Enz, 'I Got You']. That's for her. This one's for you." (leading to 'Better Man'). Dave Grohl joins PJ for 'RitFW.'
