Seattle '95

The 1995 bootleg section has been updated with MP3s of the 2/5/1995 show at the Moore Theater in Seattle. FLAC format will be up soon. Enjoy.

02/05/95 - Moore Theater: Seattle, WA (Fan Club show) [100m]
attendance: 1,400
set: Jack Irons chant/Last Exit, Spin the Black Circle, Tremor Christ, Corduroy/Not for You, Animal, W.M.A., Lukin, Glorified G, Daughter, Rearviewmirror, Immortality, Blood
enc 1: Satan's Bed, Black, Porch, Garden, Go
enc 2: Better Man, Let My Love Open the Door
notes: Free tickets were mailed to Ten Club members and PJ appeared as the "Piss Bottle Men." Ed speaks of how they just got their vaccinations for the Asian tour, and, while speaking of "pains in the ass," says about the "jumping thing" (moshing and stagediving) that they are "beyond that now." 'Lukin' premiers at this show. A riff from 'Baba O'Riley' is played to open 'RVM.' 'Immortality's' ending is long, lingering and soft. They pause after a ripping 'Go' for Ed to note, "So this is what the fan club looks like ..." 'Let My Love Open the Door,' a Pete Townshend cover, is played for the first time live by the whole band.

Boston I 1994

The 1994 bootleg section has been updated with the first of three nights in Boston. The show is available in both FLAC and 320kbps MP3s. The Boston shows in 1994 definately had a different feel to them. Kurt Cobain had killed himself on April 5th. Pearl Jam played a show in Fairfax, VA on the 8th, the day Kurt's body was discovered and then three intense shows in Boston followed. His death was clearly on their minds. Excellent shows. Enjoy. Night 2 will be up soon to complete the trilogy.

04/10/94 - Boston Garden: Boston, MA [110m]
attendance: 12,000
support act: Mudhoney
set: Release, Go, Animal, Dissident, Why Go, Deep, Jeremy, Glorified G, (Sweet Emotion)/Daughter/(Hey Hey, My My)/(WMA), State of Love and Trust, Garden, Blood, Black, Alive, Porch
enc 1: Once, Rearviewmirror, Not for You
enc 2: Elderly Woman, Leash, Yellow Ledbetter
notes: Tickets are absolutely impossible to get to this show, particularly with the speculation that PJ will cancel to return to Seattle for a memorial for Kurt. 'Release' opens again, in total darkness. Ed brings up the lights to personally thanks two "girls" in the audience for standing up and dancing during Mudhoney's set. 'Glorified G' is dedicated to James Brady. Members of Aerosmith are in attendance, thus the tribute snippet of 'Sweet Emotion.' Ed comments on PJ's continued sadness about Kurt: "Hey,... I gotta admit, we got a lot on our minds. It is tough to play. I personally felt we shouldn't play at all. It is really very odd, it's just like that empty feeling. It is all right to fade away and not to burn out." 'Blood' is dedicated to Kurt. As an intro to 'Black' Ed sings a few lines from 'Stuff and Nonsense.' Ed starts off the encore by saying, "... you guys are actually almost making me happy tonight," and brings his brother, Brian out later to have the audience say hello.

Camden II 2003!!

The 2003 bootleg section has been updated with night 2 from Camdump New Jersey!! This one is available in both FLAC and MP3 versions. MP3s were converted at 320kbps. This was a super rockin' show. One of my favorite bootlegs. Always pisses me off that I didn't go but night one was great too. I missed "In My Tree"!! Oh well maybe this year! Enjoy the boot!

07/06/03 - Tweeter Center: Camden, NJ (Philadelphia, PA)
support act: Buzzcocks
preset: The Kids Are Alright (Ed solo)
set: Of The Girl, Breakerfall, Hail Hail, Save You, Grievance, Dissident, Immortality, I Am Mine, Get Right, Even Flow, In My Tree, Lukin/Not For You, Nothingman, You Are, Whipping, Porch enc 1: Jeremy, Elderly Woman, Better Man/(Save It For Later), Daughter/(War), Alive
enc 2: Do The Evolution, Fuckin' Up, Rockin' In The Free World
notes: The Buzzcocks' get an encore and Ed joins them for 'Why Can't I Touch It?' After the mellow opener, they rip through the next songs with no chat until after 'Save You,' when Ed refers to the crowd as "people of mass construction" and says the only fireworks will be the ones on the stage. 'Even Flow' is very long and avoids some of the sound quality problems that seemed to plague Mike's solo during Saturday's show. Ed speaks of freedom and how playing guitar like Mike is freedom. 'Porch' is excellent with Mike tearing it up. At the start of the encore, Ed asks how people are holding up and comments that the encore will be "all request," and the first two songs are played with dedications - 'Jeremy' is for Peter. The crowd waving their arms up and screaming the "hello!" part are so loud that Ed steps back in surprise, saying "Jesus Christ" softly. During 'Daughter,' Ed dons the Bush mask, dances to the beat and then busts out his best moonwalk across center stage. He changes the lyrics to "the bombs fall down" and then gets the 'War' chant going. Ed comments about high proportions of Riot Act sales in the Philly area, leading to a blistering 'DTE' (with lyrics changed to "this land WAS free") and 'Fuckin' Up.' (hmmmm) Steve from the Buzzcocks plays Ed's SG for 'RITFW.' Excellent show.

A hint at what's next:

A Few Updates!!

Updated the 1996 bootlegs section with 320kbps MP3s for Randall's Island I. The following shows are available in both FLAC and 320kbps MP3s in their respective bootleg sections!

The 1992 bootleg section has been updated with the 11/01/92 performance at the Bridge School Benefit! Some really good stuff in this little show including "Angel" and "I Am A Patriot"!! Two Feet Thick Notes:

11/01/92 - Shoreline Amphitheatre: Mountain View, CA (Bridge School Benefit) (acoustic) [35m]
attendance: 18,000
set: Footsteps, Jeremy, Black, Alive, Daughter, Angel, I Am a Patriot
notes: This benefit for the Bridge School, a program for communicative and educational development of severely physically challenged non-speaking children, also featured Neil Young, Elton John, James Taylor, Shawn Colvin and Sammy Hagar. PJ plays revised versions of 'Jeremy' and 'Black,' premiers 'Daughter' and performs Steven Van Zandt's 'I Am a Patriot.' 'Angel' is particularly sweet and has only been played live once before.

Also updated the 2003 bootleg section with the firt of the three Mansfield, Mass shows! If you get these three shows you pretty much have everything you could ever want from the Riot Act tour! The last of the three is also available and night two will be available in the very near future. Enjoy the shows!!
07/02/03 - Tweeter Center for the Performing Arts: Mansfield (Boston), MA
support act: Buzzcocks
preset: Dead Man (Ed solo)
set: Oceans, Go, Hail Hail, Save You, Deep, Get Right, Dissident, I Am Mine, Even Flow, Help Help, Immortality, In My Tree, Light Years, Evacuation, Whipping, Grievance, Present Tense, Porch
enc 1: Thumbing My Way, Elderly Woman, Smile, State Of Love And Trust, Leaving Here
enc 2: Soon Forget, Bushleaguer, Fuckin' Up
notes: 'Oceans' is gorgeous, taking many by surprise and Ed's voice is strong. Ed states that the band has a plan: "... we've worked up about 70 songs for this tour. We thought we would play three nights without repeating a song and get to every song ... we're actually playing about 105 ... this would put it at about 35 songs a night." Intense staredown between Mike and Ed during the 'Even Flow' solo, almost as if Ed is daring him to keep soloing, which he does for what seems forever. After 'Grievance,' Ed speaks about free speech and the government is cloaking themselves in the flag. He talks about Celine Dion and how she is still under the control of Sony Music etc, comparing her to a robot and that they put too much "ego chip" in her. Then, in reference to his own spitting, he says the reason she doesn't spit is because "I heard she swallows." After a lovely rendition of 'Present Tense,' Ed has a young fan count the "1,2,3,4" opening to 'Porch.' 'Thumbing My Way,' 'Elderly Woman' and 'Smile' are played by request. 'Bushleaguer' gets a rather chilly, confused reception. Ed using the mask, French kisses it and tosses it into the crowd. 'Fuckin' Up' is extended by a couple of minutes, with Mike soloing and the rest of the band jamming with huge smiles on their faces. The venue's 11 pm curfew made for a quick, tight show (although they did go a bit past 11). Great show with the band loving the crowd.

7/14/1993

The 1993 bootleg section has been updated with the Brixton Academy show in London, UK on 7/14/1993! This show is available in both FLAC and Mp3s at 320kbps! Enjoy!

07/14/93 - Brixton Academy: London, England [105m]
attendance: 6,426
support act: Tribe After Tribe
set: Release, Even Flow (song stopped), Blood, Animal, Why Go, Deep, Jeremy, Rearviewmirror, Beast of Burden/(Suck You Dry), Alive, Black, Go, Daughter/(W.M.A.), Porch/(Tearing), Once, Garden, Blues Jam/State of Love and Trust
enc 1: Leash, Fuckin' Up, Sonic Reducer
enc 2: Indifference
notes: 'Even Flow' is stopped until someone in the crowd who is down gets back up. Ed starts counting the people in front to see if everyone is all right. The Rolling Stones' 'Beast of Burden' is covered briefly, with the lyrics modified to "... all I want from you is to make love to me" with Ed clarifying that those are just lyrics and they don't really mean it. A little bluesy jam leads to 'Sonic Reducer' 654k)-->The encore is introed as "Here are some Journey songs for you" as a review of the previous Finsbury Park show compared PJ to Journey. A solid show.

Wembley II 1996!

The 1996 bootleg section has been updated with the second night in London! This show is available in both FLAC and 320 kbps MP3s. Enjoy the show! The Two Feet Thick notes are below:

10/29/96 - Wembley Arena: London, England [110m]
attendance: 11,000
support act: The Fastbacks
set: Release, Last Exit, Animal, Hail Hail, Go, Tremor Christ, Sometimes, In My Tree, Corduroy, Better Man, Even Flow, Daughter/(Suck You Dry)/(Bull in the Heather), Footsteps, Jeremy, Lukin, Rearviewmirror, Immortality, Alive
enc 1: Habit, I Got Shit, Once, State of Love and Trust, Present Tense
enc 2: Smile, Yellow Ledbetter
notes: Apparently even a better show than the previous night in London, with PJ in good form, a good mood, a good setlist and a good crowd--opening with 'Release' in total darkness. Jeff and Ed are super on 'Footsteps' and 'Rearviewmirror' is lively. Later, Ed notes, "As far as I'm concerned, you've got a new reputation as good listeners; and this is one that we'd like to kinda share with you intimately" leading to 'Present Tense.' 'Smile' is played for a second time on this tour, and Ed jokes, "Last night we attempted to play this song ... about half way through, one of us messed up really bad. So tonight, we are going to attempt to play it perfectly, just for you. The sentiment in the song also applies." It is a very pretty version and he tosses his harmonica to the crowd at the end. Mike is sounding great, going wild during 'Corduroy' and 'Yellow Ledbetter' solos. Ed's concluding comments: "It's gonna be a while but we'll see you again ... London was one of the first places to kinda make Seattle kinda something interesting ... something you would listen to. Of course, now they trash us, but we don't give a fuck. You guys are great. Thank you."

More VFC!

Another show from the VFC tour has been added to the 2004 bootleg section!! This is the Asheville show in North Carolina from 10/06/2004. Enjoy the show!

attendance: approx 7,500
support act: Gob Roberts, Death Cab for Cutie
set: Sometimes, Grievance, Corduroy, Hail Hail, Once, Dissident, Even Flow, Daughter/(Blitzkrieg Bop), MFC, U, Not For You, Blood
enc 1 (acoustic): Long Road, Elderly Woman, Sleight Of Hand, Crazy Mary
enc 2: Brain Of J, Do The Evolution, Smile, The New World (w/Tim Robbins), Baba O'Riley
notes: Ed is really sick throughout the show, which explains the lack of a preset solo (along with late arrival to the venue). He's constantly blowing his nose and sipping tea between songs. Very poor security at this venue (lots of drunk idiots down front that pushed their way to the front without having proper tickets) and crap being thrown on stage. 'Blitzkrieg Bop' is tagged on 'Daughter,' with a "hey, ho, let's vote" chant. A verse is omitted from 'MFC.' The uke was brought out for the acoustic set but not used. Boom doesn't make his appearance until the acoustic set, inviting a warm welcome from the crowd. Mike goes up by Boom for an extended jam on 'Crazy Mary.' During 'DTE,' Ed completely skips over the 'hallelujah' part leaving Jeff going up to the mic then looking surprised. After the song, Mike just shrugs his shoulders and laughs, while Jeff goes back to the mic to do his part that was skipped over. During 'Smile,' Stone puts on a plastic nose that somebody threw on stage, getting some good laughs from the guys. Tim Robbins comes out for 'The New World' and throws a bouquet of flowers to the crowd. 'Soon Forget,' 'Masters Of War,' 'Glorified G,' and 'Indifference' were on the setlist but not played.

No Code Tour Update!!

The 1996 bootleg section has been updated with the 10/28/1996 show at Wembley Arena in the UK!! I just never get sick of these No Code tour bootlegs! Hope you enjoy it.

Two Feet Thick notes:
10/28/96 - Wembley Arena: London, England [115m]
attendance: 11,000
support act: The Fastbacks
set: Oceans, Last Exit, Animal, Spin the Black Circle, Hail Hail, Dissident, In My Tree, Corduroy, Elderly Woman, Not for You, Even Flow, Daughter/(Androgynous Mind), Jeremy, State of Love and Trust, Sometimes, Rearviewmirror, Immortality, Alive, Blood, Porch
enc: Off He Goes, Better Man, Whipping, Smile, Leaving Here
notes: The show begins with Ed stepping to the mic and saying, "The waiting drove me mad. This song's called 'Oceans.'" Ed is nursing his throat a bit, drinking tea between songs, but having to stretch a lot to hit notes. Ed leads into "In My Tree" with, "So far this feels nice and cozy. This ain't bad at all." 'Even Flow' features a cool little guitar intro and Mike's solo is brilliant! Jeff says "Lemme just say this is the most fun we've had in London before." Ed follows with a talk about how he was watching a TV show about how London dealt with sewage problems back in the 1600s, " ... the point being, you've had a lot of shit here for a long, long time--and just finally you're dealing with it." 'Blood' is a short, but very intense version. Introduced as " ... a request that came up from the front ... ," 'Smile' is played live before an audience for the first time.

Vedder Berkeley '08!!

The Vedder 2008 bootleg section has been created and updated with Ed's performance at Berkeley on 4/07/08!! I wish I could comment on the quality but I haven't even listen myself yet. Enjoy and get it fast because I'm not sure how long it will be around!

April 7, 2008 Zellerbach Theatre, Berkeley, California:
Set List (unconfirmed):
Walking The Cow, Around The Bend, I am Mine, Dead Man, I'm Open, Man of the Hour, Setting Forth, Guaranteed, No Ceiling, Far Behind, Rise, Millworker, Goodbye, Satellite, Drifting, You've Got to Hide Your Love Away, Here's to the State, Trouble, If You Want to Sing Out, Sing Out, Parting Ways, Forever Young, Porch
1st encore: Society, Growin' Up, Lukin, No More, Arc
2nd encore: Hard Sun

Windy City '94

The 1994 bootleg section has been update with the 3/10/1994 performance at Chicago Stadium!! "Release" seems to be a usual opener in Chicago doesn't it. Pretty lucky in my opinion. "I Won't Back Down" a Tom Petty cover is played as well as the super punk rocker "Sonic Reducer"!! Good show... enjoy!
attendance: 13,000
support act: The Frogs and Urge Overkill
set: Release, Animal, Go, Even Flow, Dissident, Empire Carpet song/State of Love and Trust, Why Go, Jeremy, Glorified G, Daughter/(The Real Me), Not for You, Rearviewmirror, Blood, Alive,/improv/Porch, Garden, Happy Birthday (Jeff), Spin the Black Circle, Black, Tremor Christ, Footsteps, Rockin' in the Free World, I Won't Back Down, Leash, Sonic Reducer, Indifference
notes: Ed joins The Frogs in a cover of The Who's 'See Me Feel Me' wearing an elaborate silver robe. The Empire Carpet song is an old, local carpet store jingle which Ed sings as evidence that he's really from Chicago. It is Jeff's birthday and the obligatory cake and food fight are evidenced after Stone leads the crowd in singing 'Happy Birthday,' with pieces of Jeff's birthday cake and candles tossed to the audience. Jeff is wearing Chicago Bulls #23 (Michael Jordan) basketball trunks. A fun night and show.

Dublin 1996

The 1996 bootleg section has been updated with the 10/26/96 show in Dublin Ireland! This one's loaded with a few of my personal favorites, "Immortality", "Who You Are" and "In My Tree". Immortality may be one of their best songs and Mike just wails on the solos for that song. Vitalogy as a whole was totally brilliant. The Two Feet Thick notes for this show are below. Enjoy the music!
attendance: 8,500
support act: The Fastbacks
set: Release, Last Exit, Animal, Spin the Black Circle, Hail Hail, In My Tree, Corduroy, Elderly Woman, Lukin, Mankind, Even Flow, Daughter/(Noise of Carpet), Jeremy, Go, Habit, Immortality, Alive, Blood/(Fame)
enc 1: Who You Are, Better Man, State of Love and Trust, Off He Goes, Hunger Strike
enc 2: Yellow Ledbetter
notes: The band seems in a friendly, upbeat mood with Ed being rather chatty. He tells a little story before 'Habit': "We met an interesting fellow in a little basement club thing last night. You know ... one of those guys who says, 'Heroin, its not addicting. I've been doing it for eight years.' ... whatever, mate. This song's for you." Ed refers to 'Mankind' as Stone Gossard's "vocal debut in Ireland." ('Mankind' was skipped in Cork.) 'Even Flow' features a very cool, different jam by Mike. During the 'Daughter' outro, Ed suggests, "OK, so the shades are down ... why not, roll them up?" leading to 'Noise of Carpet.' After Alive, Ed notes that this is the first time PJ has played Dublin proper and he says he thinks he has agoraphobia. The crowd is given a choice between 'Leaving Here' and 'Yellow Ledbetter' for the final song; 'Yellow Ledbetter' is played.

Bootleg Update!!

Alright it's been a while since we had bootleg update on the site but we're back in business today! Thank my brother for the push! Anyway, the 2004 bootleg section has two updates today with the brief set Pearl Jam performed at the Westin Hotel in Seattle on 4/9/04 for the Impact Awards ceremony and the St. Louis VFC show!! The vote for change shows are fitting for the political climate in the states these days. We desperately want change. By we I mean the people of course. We want peace. We want a clean environment. We want to listen to Pearl Jam whenever the fuck we want! OK so we can do that but there is a sense of restriction here like I've never felt before. All we get fed is bullshit on the idiot box about Paris Hilton and Britney Spears and politic dipfucks stickin' it to $4000/hr hookers! Meanwhile gas is through the roof, our soldiers are still killing and dying in Iraq 5 years later over bullshit and the douchbags in DC have their eyes set on Iran next!!

Then you have the three smiling fuck bags running for president one of which is spouting empty promises about "change". Change what?!! We're going to pull out of Iraq and just let other nations come in and secure Iraq's oil?? Yeah right Barack!! Don't be fooled... he's just as much a part of the establishment as the rest of them! Then you have McCain. I'll give him one thing at leats he's being honest with us. He's already said we'll be in Iraq for 100 years. Woohoo!! Things are lookin' up! Then there's the robot they call Hillary. Sorry can't do it. This bitch is well beyond full of shit!! She thinks she can provide nation healthcare for 350 million people without breaking the bank (which is already pretty fucked by the way) and without raising taxes. Ha!!

OK sorry. I've probably offended just about everyone that visits here now. I'm just a bit pissed at this country right now. We've let corporations take over and we've let spoon feed us our candidates for too long!! The people that want to make real change happen in this country get little to no press coverage while these same ass kissing schmucks get shoved up our ass all day long!! Here is a sense of what we are up against in this country. These are the people that want to rule the world and they are working everyday to acheive that goal. Read some of the shit they propose and you'll be sitting there with your jaw on the floor.

Back to the real purpose of this site now. THE MUSIC!! Thank God for the music... it keeps me sane... well almost.

Visit the 2004 Bootlegs section too get these shows:
04/09/04 - Westin Hotel: Seattle, WA (2nd Annual IMPACT Awards)
set: Last Soldier, Down, 1/2 Full
notes: Pearl Jam is among four artists receiving IMPACT Awards from the Pacific Northwest Chapter of the Recording Academy for extraordinary contributions to local music. The band is dressed to the nines and Jeff is sporting a deep tan (most likely from his birthday climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro). They perform a very brief, electric set. Stone gives the acceptance speech. 'Patriot' is included on the written setlist as an encore but is not played.
**This download includes Stone's acceptance speach among a few other things.

10/05/04 - Fox Theatre: St. Louis, MO [150m] (Vote for Change Tour)
attendance: approx 4,500
support act: Gob Roberts, Death Cab for CutieEd's
pre-set: Last Kiss
set: Love Boat Captain, Last Exit, Animal, Save You, The American in Me, Corduroy, Immortality, Alone, Jeremy, In My Tree, Wishlist, Rearviewmirror
enc 1 (acoustic): I Am A Patriot (Ed solo), Man Of The Hour, Elderly Woman, Off He Goes, All Or None, Black
enc 2: The Seeker, Do The Evolution, State Of Love And Trust, Better Man/(Save It For Later), The New World (w/Tim Robbins), Fortunate Son
enc 3: Yellow Ledbetter
notes: PJ makes a return to the Fabulous Fox Theatre, a beautiful, acoustically sound venue, after ten years. Ed is wearing a brown shirt with Bush's face on it that says "Expires Nov '04." After 'Corduroy,' Ed says, "It's about time this group played a classy joint!" (in comparison to the prior arenas). 'Alone' again catches many off guard and Ed's vocals are nearly spot on with the original recordings but the harmonies are missing, filled by guitarwork. 'Wishlist' has the "I wish I was the president ..." tag and includes some language about Dick Cheney and how you can't sacrifice the lives of American men and women for a war that appears to be profit driven ... "it will be Dick Cheney who is not forgiven." This leads to a well-received and strong 'RVM,' concluding the first set. Upon returning, there is a toast to St. Louis and one to the whole state with some discussion about how only 1/3 of those between 18 and 22 vote and a plea to register and vote and that they don't really care how people vote. Ed says actually they do care ("That's why we're here ...") and that leads to a lovely 'Patriot' with just Ed and his guitar. 'MOTH' is dedicated to Johnny Ramone, really lovely and a nice showcase for Ed's deep range. 'Elderly Woman' includes a bauble (Ed notes, "I fucked up") and he could tell since the crowd was singing along. 'Off He Goes' is beautiful and 'All Or None' again seems to be a bit lost on the crowd (and it would be nice to see Mike go a bit longer on the ending solo). Ed turns the end of 'Black' over to the crowd and it is a nice finish to the acoustic set. The next set begins with the normally quiet Stone talking quite a bit, thanking St. Louis and reminding people it is important to vote. Very solid set follows with so much excitement during 'DTE' that someone in the front of the balcony nearly falls. A brief, cheerful band huddle follows and they go with Mike's selection of 'SOLAT' to keep the momentum going. 'Wishlist' slows things down but has a solid 'Save It For Later' tag with some "please vote" lyrics intermingled. During 'The New World,' Tim Robbins and Ed square off and slam into each other (you can guess who won ... not Ed; Tim is tall!). The fun continues into a high spirited 'Fortunate Son.' Ed toys with the Bush mask a bit but there is no 'Bushleaguer.' 'YL' finishes, featuring a short 'Star Spangled Banner' tag by Mike.

Atlanta '94 MP3's and a 2000 Update!!

Now available in the 1994 bootleg section are 320kbps MP3's of the 4/3/1994 show at the Fox Theater in Atlanta! Ed's radio broadcast after the show is included. Enjoy!

Also updated is the 2000 bootleg section with the 8/10/00 West Palm Beach gig in FLAC!! As always with the 2000 bootlegs this one sounds fantasitic. Enjoy the show!

08/10/00 - Mars Music Amphitheatre: West Palm Beach, FL
support act: Sonic Youth
set: Of The Girl, Breakerfall, Corduroy, MFC, Once, Animal, God's Dice, Given To Fly, Evacuation, Pilate, Daughter/(WMA)/(On A Rope)/(Androgynous Mind), Even Flow, Wishlist, Timeless Melody, Off He Goes, Better Man/(Save It For Later), Nothingman, Leatherman, Porch
enc 1: Last Exit, Do The Evolution, Black, Crazy Mary, I Got Shit, Last Kiss, Baba O'Riley
enc 2:Yellow Ledbetter
notes: Before 'Pilate,' Ed has the lights put on someone in the 15th row, saying "... he was the only guy fully rocking out to Sonic Youth ... I love you," and he makes a reference to him coming back to his hotel room later. He continues, "This next song was named after a 12-foot eagle ray that was spotted off the coast of West Palm ... oh, it's the next song - sorry" (and that song turns out to be 'Even Flow' and he further explains that the ray is a member of the shark family). The 'On a Rope' snippet within the 'Daughter' tag is a Rocket from the Crypt song. Ed goes off on a little story about how no one knows much about 'Timeless Melody' and how it was written by the La's "... out of England in the mid 80s ... the words are great." Ed holds the last note in 'Better Man' for what seems like forever. During 'Porch' Ed appears to be lighting, or attempting to light, the cork on his wine bottle; he then takes the cork and blacks out under and above his eyes, and across his nose. To finish off the song, Ed slams the mic stand on the stage. Introducing 'I Got Shit,' Ed says, "Here's one we like to do with Neil Young, but we like to call him 'Young Neil'." Introducing 'LK,' he says, "This is a little sing along ... pretend we got a big campfire and pretend that no one's dead." Introducing 'Baba,' Ed indicates that the audience should be doing some singing on this one. Stone has a good night tonight, and Mikey is a maniac, really going for it with a very extended ending to 'YL,' breaking into Van Halen's 'Dance the Night Away'. The audience is MUCH better than the previous night.

Slim's Cafe 1993!!`

The 1993 bootleg section has been updated with the 5/13/93 show at Slim's Cafe in San Francisco!! This was a secret show so thanks very much to whoever was able to tape this one originally! Must have been nice to be one of the lucky 900 people in attendance for this one. Very nice setlist and this download includes the soundcheck as well. Enjoy the show!!
attendance: 900
soundcheck: Daughter instrumental, Why Go, Blood instrumental, Rats and Release guitar warm-ups, Animal instrumental, Animal, Dissident
set: Animal, Go, Even Flow, Blood, Daughter, W.M.A., Dissident, Why Go, Alive, Hard to Imagine, Rearviewmirror, Better Man, Dirty Frank/Rats, Baba O'Riley, Once, Jeremy, (Girls Just Wanna Have Fun)/Porch/(Tearing), Release, Alone, (Dirty Deeds)/Whipping, Leash, Sonic Reducer
notes: This was a secret show was a benefit to assist in legal support for a member of the Surfrider Foundation. PJ is billed as the "David J. Gunn Band" and most of Vs. (plus 'Better Man' and 'Whipping') premier as they have just completed recording the new album. The band even asks for requests at this show. Ed jokes around: "We're accepting any donations of acid that you may have. Just put it in a little envelope with your name on it ... and if we write a great song while we're on it, we'll put your name in the credits." A guitar riff from Van Halen's 'Eruption' is played between 'Why Go' and 'Alive.' 'Alive' is dedicated to Ed's uncle, Freddy Vedder. The transition from 'Dirty Frank' to 'Rats' is very cool sounding.A bit of AC/DC's 'Dirty Deeds' is played.

Greenville 1998!!

The 1998 bootleg section has been updated with the 9/04/1998 show from Greenville, South Carolina!! This one includes a couple of my favorites including "In Hiding" and "All Those Yesterdays". The whole Yield album reminds me of my final year in college so these shows bring back some memories. Enjoy the show!!
attendance: 14,027
support act: Mudhoney
Set: Oceans, Do the Evolution, Animal, Given to Fly, Corduroy, I Got Shit, In Hiding, Jeremy, Even Flow, Nothingman, Not for You, Rearviewmirror, Wishlist, Brain of J, All Those Yesterdays, Porch
enc 1: Go, Hail Hail, Daughter/(Noise of Carpet)/(WMA), Mankind, Elderly Woman, Fuckin' Up
enc 2: Indifference
notes: 'Oceans' is a beautiful opener, with a film on the backdrop showing water ripples and Ed includes the "oh, Beth" line. During 'In Hiding,' Matt hits the drums hard at the "cracks along the wall" part ... everyone stops and then Matt kicks back in (a la John Bonham) doing the quick snare, tom, floor tom, bass drum thing ... and the song starts back up. After 'Even Flow,' Ed comments on how this was the second show held in this venue, with Janet Jackson being first, and that they're gonna "burn up the stage" and "cleanse the place." Stone has two BIG solos during 'Not for You.' 'RVM' features a fast start and never slows down--spectacular! Ed turns and sings to those seated behind the stage during 'All Those Yesterdays.' Matt maintains a strong tribal beat throughout 'Porch,' and Ed takes a small mirror, walking along the front of the crowd, showing people their our reflections. When he returns to the mic, he tries to reflect someone's laser pen that had been up on stage all night. Stone is hilarious before singing 'Mankind' saying, "I have to twist everyone's arm ... I never ever get to sing what I want." Ed sings backup and plays tambourine, breaking the head, putting it over his head and then tossing it to the crowd. Mike does his finger tapping solo. Ed makes a quip about how Stone had been "begging to play a song." He says something about how the last time they were in South Carolina, they saw a lot of small towns and they were glad Matt "got to see you," leading to 'Elderly Woman.' During 'Fuckin' Up,' Mike goes on top of a speaker stack and lies on them on top of his guitar after looking like he might go into the crowd for a moment! Stuff is thrown on the stage all; toward the start, Ed makes a great catch of a shirt and when another one is tossed up shortly after, he says, "Okay, that's enough. Only one catch a night." 'Indifference hasn't been played since the Australia shows. 'MFC,' 'Black' and 'Trouble' are on the setlist but not played. Many different solos and breakdowns in tonight's songs. Solid show, good crowd but the GA on the floor was rough.

Charleston 1996!!

The 1996 bootleg section has been update with the 10/5 show in Charleston, South Carolina!! Have I mentioned I fucking love No Code!! "Present Tense" and "In My Tree" in the same show and with Jack Irons on drums. The only thing that could make it better is throwing "Who You Are" in the mix. Enjoy the show!!

attendance: 9,000
support act: The Fastbacks
soundcheck: In My Tree, Off He Goes, Mankind
set: Sometimes, Last Exit, Animal, Go, Hail Hail, Dissident, In My Tree, Corduroy, Better Man, Not for You, Jeremy, Black, State of Love and Trust, Habit, Rearviewmirror, Elderly Woman, Alive, Blood/(Fame)
enc: Present Tense, Even Flow, Daughter, Improv, Off He Goes, Mankind, Whipping, Footsteps, Yellow Ledbetter
notes: The venue is smallish; the crowd and staff are kind and not killing each other here. PJ takes a while to warm up, not really smoking until midway into the show. During a pause near the end of 'Not for You,' Ed asks, "How we doin' so far?" (crowd cheers) "You don't seem so bad yourself." A rocking 'State' is intro'ed as "... a little number by request." During 'Habit,' Ed pauses, looks out and says, "Speaking as an individual in a band who has never been in this town before." Taking a break after 'Go,' Ed jokes about how when he was a kid he always thought seeing bands on the last night of a tour was great because they would be happy the tour is over and they would be "... drinking and dancing in the street, and they're playing really loud and it's gonna be a four-hour show ..." etc.; but he says that really the second to the last show is the best, and the crowd goes wild! With Ed's voice showing fatigue, he enlists audience assistance ("Want you ... HELP ME! ... in my ... rearviewmirror"). 'Present Tense' is explained as a song that Mike wrote great music for and Ed, when coming up with lyrics, "... needed anything ... anything to make me think. Just a starting point ... so I thought of Pete Townshend. I took his initials and this one is called 'Present Tense.'" Ed plays a brief improv (?) after 'Daughter,' about taking a drive to South Carolina and picking up his best friend.
(2,424k) --> 'Whipping' is dedicated to the crazy people in the front. The audience selects the next song via an "experiment in voting in November." The choices are 'Leash' ("kinda Bob Dole"), 'Leaving Here' (kinda Ross Perot) or 'Footsteps' ("that would be Bill Clinton"). 'Footsteps' is played. Ed's final comments are, "I don't know if it's easy to like this band, but we sure appreciate the fact that you do."

Lubbock 2000!!

The 2000 bootleg section has been updated with the 10/18 show in Lubbock, Texas!! This is really solid show and sounds great as do all of the 2000 North American bootlegs! Probably the sounding set of bootlegs released by the band. If you've seen the Touring Band 2000 DVD this is the show which that version of "Parting Ways" is from. Such an emotional song. Enjoy the show!

attendance: 15,000
support act: Supergrass
set: Interstellar Overdrive/Corduroy, Breakerfall, MFC, God's Dice, Animal, Dissident, Nothing As It Seems, Given To Fly, In Hiding, Lukin, Not For You, Daughter/?, Elderly Woman, Do The Evolution, Even Flow, Parting Ways
enc 1: Hail Hail, Everyday [Buddy Holly!!], Insignificance, Black, Better Man/(Save It For Later), Crazy Mary, Porch
enc 2: Fuckin' Up, Yellow Ledbetter
notes: Numerous small town type references from Ed, the best of which is the nod to Lubbock native Buddy Holly with his cover of 'Everyday.' He also made several mentions of how much he likes being away from the "industrial pollution" of the big cities and how he's happy to be somewhere with tumbleweeds. Someone tosses a white Texas Tech cowboy hat up and Mike wears it for a while. Ed wears a cowboy hat a bit also, and Stone also dons one during 'Black,' keeping it on until the end of the show (quite the fashion statement with the plaid pants) ;). 'Crazy Mary' is introduced as "There's got to be someone in Lubbock like this." 'Porch' is the only song that really features a full-fledged jam session. A fan (Jamie) is brought up onstage during the 'YL' solo, Ed dances with her, sits her on his monitor, takes a polaroid, then they watch Mike close the show out together and Ed gives her a photo and his bottle of wine.

2004 Update!

The 2004 bootleg section has been updated with the 9/24/04 performance at The Showbox in Seattle!! This was part of the No Vote Left Behind music and arts festival and somewhat of a warm up gig for the Vote For Change tour! Nice setlist and a solid performance in my opinion. Some very good covers including "The American in Me" by The Avengers, "The Seeker" by The Who, and "Masters of War" by Bob Dylan!! Enjoy the show!

attendance: sold out
support act: Smoosh
Ed's pre-set: Don't Be Shy (Included in download)
electric set: Last Exit, Save You, Hail Hail, 1/2 Full, Do The Evolution, The American In Me, Grievance, Love Boat Captain, Insignificance, Given to Fly, U, Go
enc 1 (acoustic): Elderly Woman, Footsteps, Man Of The Hour, Masters Of War, Crazy Mary
enc 2: Even Flow, The Seeker, Down, The New World
notes: PJ's contribution to the No Vote Left Behind music and art festival (with the goal of motivating the youth vote in November to vote out Bush) is this club show at The Showbox. Ed opens with a preset song, 'Don't Be Shy' [a Cat Stevens' song and a nod to the Muslim's (now known as Yusuf Islam) recent skirmish with U.S. officials as a result of his name being on a no-fly list for suspected terrorists]. Ed introduces "two future voters of America," the preteen sister duo Smoosh (Asya and Chloe) who entertain the crowd with a brief set. Rep. Jim McDermott (Washington democrat) provides an introduction for Pearl Jam saying, "If voting becomes the 'in' thing, my generation will be freaked out." Pearl Jam take the stage for an electric set and Boom is there on keyboards. Stone is particularly animated and at one point, his glasses fly off and Ed accidentally steps on them, breaking them! Ed says something to the effect of "this may effect the rest of the gig tonight," and Stone then does a modified duck walk in circles, acting as if he can't see anything, making a funny, cross-eyed face and playing a bunch of disturbingly out of tune riffs. Ed starts laughing (as everyone was) and teases him about how "maybe the show will actually sound better now" or, remarking to the noise from Stone's guitar, "that actually soundsbetter." 'The American In Me' is a song by The Avengers, a California punk band. Returning for an acoustic set, Ed jokes, "We're going to do this next bit sitting down ... not because we're old, because you're old." Dylan's 'Masters Of War' is a slower version featuring the whole band. During Boom's 'Crazy Mary' solo, Mike is near his the back, playing rhythm with his eyes closed and his head back. Boom is going crazy, but the solo went on and on and Boom is looking like he's dying and Mike can jump in any time. Ed walks across the stage, hollers at Mike several times (finally from two feet away) and snaps him out of his trance, Mike looks at Boom and immediately transitions into his solo with Ed and Stone laughing. The encore is electric again, opening with 'Even Flow' and followed by 'The Seeker' (by The Who). Infrequently performed 'Down' is dedicated to Howard Zinn. Introduced as an American hero, John Doe (X) makes a surprise appearance, performing X's 'The New World' with PJ and explaining how it was written when Ronald Reagan was president and Doe references Reagan as "the devil himself." Very little chat at this show, political or otherwise.

1996 Update!!

The 1996 bootleg section has been updated with both Randall's Island shows!! I have had these in MP3 format for a while and finally found an active torrent with the FLAC files the other day. These are some great shows!! Particularly the almost three hour long marathon 9/29/96 performance. Two Feet Thick notes are below. Enjoy!!

09/28/96 - Downing Stadium (Randall's Island): New York, NY [115m]
attendance: 30,000
support act: Ben Harper, The Fastbacks
set: Last Exit, Hail Hail, Animal, Spin the Black Circle, Red Mosquito, In My Tree, Lukin, Not for You, Better Man/(Save it for Later), Corduroy, Jeremy, Dissident, State of Love and Trust, Black, Habit, Rearviewmirror, Alive, Blood/(Noise of Carpet)
enc 1: Who You Are, Even Flow, Daughter/I Believe in Miracles/WMA, Whipping, Leaving Here, Indifference
notes: Despite the torrential downpour, Blues Traveler's John Popper jams with Mike during 'Even Flow.' (Ed gives John a big hug and a handshake at the end.) 'Whipping' is paused very briefly in the middle because someone seems to be hurt or fighting. Ed says, "Is that all?" and with a quick "1, 2, 3, 4," the song resumes right where they left off. Prior to 'Indifference," Ed comments on how it seems to him from letters the band gets, the things they read and people they've met, that lots of people are meeting each other through PJ's music. He adds, "To me, that's the best part of this whole thing and I'm honored to be a part of it." (so true ... and very cool to have it acknowledged)

09/29/96 - Downing Stadium (Randall's Island): New York, NY [168m]
attendance: 30,000
support act: Ben Harper, The Fastbacks
set: Sometimes, Go, Spin the Black Circle, Hail Hail, Animal, Tremor Christ, Who You Are, Corduroy, Lukin, Better Man, Not for You, Jeremy (new), Once, Rats, Last Exit, Habit, Rearviewmirror, Immortality, Whipping, I Got Shit, Black, Alive, Porch
enc 1: In My Tree, Even Flow, Daughter/(The Real Me)/(ABitW)/(WMA), Mankind, Long Road, Leaving Here
enc 2: Off He Goes, Present Tense, Yellow Ledbetter
notes: A nearly three-hour show with a raging pit. The band stops playing several times in an effort to get the crowd to settle down. During 'Porch,' Ed duct-tapes his *entire* body and jumps into the pit. (Thought we'd never see that again!) Just before the first encore, someone throws an "Eddie Vedder for President" t-shirt up on stage. Ed looks at it and says, "Well I'll tell you the truth ... I smoke pot! I didn't exhale though!" Stone asks for a chant of "Stone, Stone, Stone!" before singing 'Mankind.' During the encore, Mike starts playing 'Yellow Ledbetter' after 'Leaving Here,' Ed stops him and they go into 'Off He Goes' followed by 'Present Tense!' Incredible setlist.

Cleveland '98!!

The 1998 bootleg section has been updated with the 8/26/1998 show in Cleveland, OH!! The notes and setlist are below. Enjoy the show!!

attendance: 18,445
support act: Iggy Pop
soundcheck: Black Diamond [KISS song], Noise of Carpet (the whole song), Leatherman, Off He Goes, Red Mosquito (with Ed on harmonica at the end)
set: Hail Hail, Animal, Given to Fly, Corduroy, MFC, Immortality, Footsteps, Even Flow, Jeremy, In Hiding, Daughter/(My City Was Gone)/(WMA), Brain of J, Rearviewmirror, Better Man, Wishlist, Alive
enc 1: Elderly Woman, Do the Evolution, Leatherman, Black, Baba O'Riley
enc 2: Yellow Ledbetter
notes: Ed starts the show by arriving onstage via skateboard. 'Immortality' is renamed by people at the show as "Matt Fuckin' Cameron" due to his stellar work on this number. Ed notes, "... we're on our way to Philadelphia tomorrow ... and we haven't played there in a long time. We're going to have to get out of here early to be sure we get there in time ... it's a long drive." The crowd boos and Ed laughs and continues, "I'm just fuckin' with you. You like to be fucked with, right?" 'My City Was Gone' is by the Pretenders, who are from Ohio (Akron to be precise), and is a song about Cleveland. After 'Black,' Ed mentions that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is in Cleveland: "Earlier this evening, I know you've got a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame...we drove by it, I don't know who runs the place, but...those people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones..." Jeff interrupts, saying: "And where's the fucking Iggy exhibit, goddamn it!" Ed chuckles: "So what I was gonna say, was, it's right by the airport, but we're a lot closer tonight, having Iggy Pop here, standing right here ... let's just say next time we play here, it could be a year, maybe two...we hope, if it happens... if Iggy's not in yet, after the show, we're all gonna go down there and blow the place up...speaking of the hall of fame [he holds up a sign saying 'Baba'] - the WHO!" and the band busts into 'Baba O'Riley.' [The Stooges, Iggy's first band, were recently nominated to the HOF, but did not get in.] 'Wishlist' ends with the "radio song" verse, but instead of saying "I guess it never stops" he says "I guess it has to stop". Jeff comes out for 'Yellow Ledbetter' wearing a Cleveland Cavaliers jersey with Shawn Kemp's name and uniform number on the back.

Birmingham 1998

Back with another update to the 1998 bootleg section. This one is also from the third leg of that wonderful Yield tour!! From the Two Feet Thick notes below seems like a pretty intense performance from Ed and the boys on this night! Enjoy the show!
09/03/98 - Birmingham-Jefferson Coliseum: Birmingham, AL [117m]
attendance: 19,000
support act: Mudhoney
set: Release, Hail Hail, Animal, Given to Fly, (Dueling Banjos), Corduroy, Immortality, Wishlist, Go, Daughter/(Androgynous Mind)/(Stuff and Nonsense), Footsteps, Even Flow, Jeremy, Faithfull, Brain of J, Better Man, Rearviewmirror, Porch
enc: Elderly Woman, Leatherman, Do the Evolution, Alive, Black, Baba O'Riley
notes: During 'Hail Hail,' Jeff has his eyes closed the whole time, grooving. Mike hits his stride during 'Corduroy.' 'Immor
