Utrecht, Holland '92

The 1992 bootleg section has been updated with the 3/04 show in Utrecht, Holland. The show is available in FLAC and MP3 formats. Enjoy the show!

Two Feet Thick notes:
03/04/92 - Tivoli: Utrecht, Holland [90m]
attendance: 950
soundcheck: Even Flow (3x), Alive (4x), Even Flow (3x), Alive (2x)
set: Release, Even Flow, Why Go, Jeremy, Deep, Alive, Black, State of Love and Trust, Once, (Sympathy for the Devil), Porch
enc: Jam, Alone, (Outshined)/Leash, (Hunger Strike), Garden, Jam
notes: Incredible amounts of stagediving at this show cause Jeff to be concerned for his pedals and he warns the crowd to be careful of the equipment. Ed also expresses some distress: “These heads you see up here … they’re human. They break. If you wanna break someone’s head, maybe you should do it with your head and not your boots, you pussies!” ‘Deep’ is introduced as “a four-letter word called ‘Deep.’” Ed’s intro to ‘Alive’: “And maybe, what I think of this song is a world you would be in on MTV or something. No, listen, maybe it feels a little weird for me, cause I am a protector of this song as well, cause it’s like as you know, your life. So I hope you listen to it in the right way, and I think live is probably the way.” During a short ‘Sympathy for the Devil’ jam, Ed attempts to cool down the crowd by calling it the ‘Waterpouring Song’ and pours water on the crowd. With the crowd yelling for ‘Hunger Strike,’ Ed asks if there is a “political strike going on in Holland cuz everywhere we go we hear people yelling about a hunger strike.” He later treats the crowd to a short version of ‘Hunger Strike’ saying, “I can’t wait to tell Chris about that”) and plays a little drum solo before ‘Alone.’ Ed tells the crowd he has a new tattoo and now he’s a “… walking piece of art. I used to be just a loser.” He says he really wants to jump in the crowd but is concerned people will grab his sore, tattooed leg. A super show.

Pearl Jam on Tonight Show with Conan O'Brian June 1st!! New Songs will be played!!!!!

"Saying No" in Den Haag!!!

The 1992 bootleg section has been updated with the 03/02/92 show in Den Haag, Holland! This is one of those great early bootlegs that circulated through head shops and corner record stores for $30 to $40 back in the day. It's been a while but I used to listen to this boot all the time. Best part I can remember is "I've Got A Feeling", it's just an awesome jam and one of many highlights on this one. The sound of this recording is also very good which is always a plus. As usual this show is available in both FLAC and MP3 formats. Hope you enjoy the show!

Here's some vid footage of "I've Got A Feeling":

03/02/92 - Paard, Den Haag, Holland [88m]
attendance: 500
set: Oceans, Even Flow, Why Go, Jeremy, Deep, Alive, Black, Saying No/Suggestion, Alone, Once, Porch
enc: Garden, Leash, I’ve Got A Feeling
notes: Ed has more words for stage divers: “Just a couple of words. In my whole life, I never wanted to be a policeman or anything of authority. But in fact, all my life I’ve been in a crowd like this, and whenever I was back there and people throw up onto the stage and jumped back off it always looked so cool, but when you are up here, see all these peoples’ heads bein’ smashed in by boots and stuff, it’s really fuckin’ ridiculous. Prior to ‘Black’ Ed notes, “You know, we canceled tomorrow night’s show just because I knew I would sing with everything I got tonight … a very good decision I think.” ‘Suggestion’ is an extremely rousing version, renamed ‘Saying No in Den Haag’ by Ed. Stone and Mike sing an ear splitting a capella version of Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ before ‘Porch.’ Ed’s brother, Jason, jams with the band during a long, lively version of ‘I’ve Got a Feeling’ including parts of ‘Hunger Strike,’ ‘Say Hello 2 Heaven’ and ‘Jane Says’ (by Jane’s Addiction). Excellent show.

Maui

The 1998 bootleg section has been updated with the 2/20/1998 show in Maui! The show is available in both FLAC and MP3. Show notes from Two Feet Thick.

attendance: 5,000
support act: Mudhoney
soundcheck (not included in download): Long Road, Off He Goes, Red Mosquito, Corduroy, Wishlist, MFC, Oceans, Jeremy, Alive
set: Corduroy, Hail Hail, Brain of J, Faithfull, Red Mosquito, Wishlist, Even Flow, MFC, Improv(?)/Habit, Better Man, Jeremy, Given to Fly, Daughter, Black, In Hiding, Do the Evolution, Last Exit
enc: Once, Smile, Yellow Ledbetter
notes: An awful pit and not the best crowd either, going wild with ‘Corduroy’ as the unusual opener, and breaking the barrier during ‘Red Mosquito.’ Ed asks the crowd to step back and references the (ineffective) “Mariah Carey barricade.” ‘Wishlist’ includes modified lyrics: “I wish I was a 40-foot wave, breaking off the north shore.” Ed smashes down his microphone and stand at one point, seemingly annoyed that he was flubbing lyrics. After the band huddles around Jack, Ed comments that he “… just wanted tonight to be perfect …”, applauds the crowd and they launch into ‘Do the Evolution.’ Mike is awesome, giving a fantastic solo during ‘Even Flow’ and bringing out the flying-V Gibson during ‘Evolution’ and ‘Last Exit.’ ‘In Hiding’ is wonderful live (wow!) and the brief lead-in (new song, improv or whatever?) features a rocking tune. (Partial lyrics: “Came here with no bags, don’t need nothing, don’t need no clothes, I don’t need sunblock on my nose.”) A SUPER encore, with ‘Once’ as an always pleasing surprise, followed by instrument switching (and Jeff’s nice solo) during ‘Smile.’ A 10pm curfew resulted in a too soon end to the show

East Lansing 1998

At long last I'm back with a concert update. I'm going to try to keep this going as long as I can. Updates will probably not be as frequent as they once were. We have a new addition to the family and I just don't have the time to get things uploaded as often. That being said I still have a shit ton of shows in lossless format that I want to make available here so I'll do my best to keep the updates steady. So here goes...
The 1998 bootleg section has been updated with the 8/18 show in East Lansing, Michigan. This recording is available in both FLAC and MP3 formats. MP3s are encoded at 320 kbps (cbr). Please remember that MP3s should only be used for your own personal enjoyment. If you intend to trade these shows please download the FLAC version for best quality. Enjoy the music!

Two Feet Thick notes:

08/18/98 - Breslin Student Events Center: East Lansing, MI [95m]

attendance: 15,300

support act: Iggy Pop

soundcheck: Soldier of Love, Footsteps (partial), Hard to Imagine (partial), Dissident, All Those Yesterdays, No Way (!!), improv, Indifference, Satan’s Bed

set: Release, Do the Evolution, Spin the Black Circle, Brain of J, Dissident, Given to Fly, Corduroy, MFC, Wishlist, Jeremy, Even Flow, Faithfull, Elderly Woman, Off He Goes, Rearviewmirro

renc 1: Hail Hail, I Got Shit, Alive, Black, Soldier of Love [cover]

notes: During ‘Brain of J,’ Mike and Stone jam together during Stone’s solo. Introing ‘Dissident,’ Ed says, “Dedicated to a girl named Monica.” Between ‘Corduroy’ and ‘MFC,’ Ed says, “… It feels like we’re playing a frat party on a Friday - not a frat party, a keg party … no not a keg party, a pot party… Anything’s worth smoking.” Ed has trouble with the e-bow (no sound initially) on ‘Wishlist,’ only playing a couple of notes and flubs the lyrics saying, “I wish I wish I wish … I wish I knew this song.” During ‘Even Flow,’ Matt does this really cool fill and Mike goes over and jams on it. ‘Elderly Woman is directed toward “you” (the crowd). Ed, having voice problems, motions toward his throat at various times. ‘RVM’ is excellent and the jam is really trancey. In the middle of it, Ed takes out a towel, puts it over the monitors, puts a soccer ball on it, and kicks it into the middle of the arena! The stage is brightly lit during ‘Alive,’ Ed was checks out the crowd, and sees a “Breath” sign. He gets a big smile and starts laughing (shaking his finger as if to say “no no no”), and then during ‘Black,’ in the line where he says “breath,” he really draws that word out while looking at the guy with the sign. ! After ‘Black,’ which features an INCREDIBLE solo from Mike, Ed says, “That’s Mike … you know Stone … but thanks especially to Matt,” and the crowd gives him a big round of applause. For ‘Soldier of Love,’ (a song by Arthur Alexander written in 1962) which Ed introduces as a “song for people in love,” and that they had just learned that day, he brings out a kid with a Univ. of Michigan shirt into the audience - he gets booed (MSU being a big rival) - Ed says, “Oh, I didn’t realize you were wearing the wrong shirt” and brings out a girl to hold the written lyrics in his journal for him instead. (He speaks into her recorder and began dancing with her toward the end of the song.) Final Ed comments of the night: some thanks to the crowd for choosing PJ over the Beastie Boys (also playing down the road that night) and “on behalf of all of us, we wanna thank Iggy Pop, it’s really nice to play with him in his own state …” and comments on the Michigan live music censorship bill, “some guy showing his penis or something,” and closes the show with the immortal comment: “They want your parents to have to go with you to rock concerts, just in case some guy pulls out his penis or something. It’s rock and roll. You should be able to, I should be able to show my penis. It’s rock and roll.” (On the setlist and not played: Footsteps, Fuckin’ Up, SoL&T, Habit)

Camden II 1998!

Ok tried something a bit different this time around. I actually took the time to listen to this boot before making it available here. Not sure what it was exactly... but I really enjoyed this show. First off, any show that opens with "long Road" is a winner in my book. This was a great version of that great opener though. I always thought "Long Road" into Corduroy, to open a show, is just awesome too! This was just a really rocking show and to top it off they busted out "Push Me Pull Me"! One of only three times played EVER! I saw that it was on the setlist before listening to the show and wasn't really expecting it to be that great. I was dead wrong. I was AMAZING! Very, very cool song. So the Camden, 8/29/1998, show is now available in the 1998 bootleg section! This is definately a very good show. The sound is probably a strong B to A-. The Two Feet Thick notes are below.

08/29/98 - Blockbuster Music Entertainment Centre: Camden, NJ [120m]attendance: 25,000
support act: Mudhoney, Iggy Pop
soundcheck: no soundcheck today
set: Long Road, Corduroy, Brain of J, Red Mosquito, In Hiding, Animal, Given to Fly, Lukin, Wishlist, MFC, Not for You, Alive, Nothingman, State of Love and Trust, Present Tense, Hail Hail, Jeremy, Do the Evolution
enc 1: Dissident, Even Flow, Better Man/(Save It For Later), Push Me Pull Me, Rearviewmirror
enc 2: Last Kiss, Rockin' in the Free Worldnotes: Ed's voice seems to be much better tonight. After 'GTF,' he says, "Hello, we're band number three; we're very fond of bands one and two; but we've never written a song about band number two, but we did at least about a member of band number one," and they launch into 'Lukin'. During 'SoL&T,' Mike takes his shirt off. For 'Present Tense,' Ed comments that he's been thinking about it lately, it's kind of weird in the present tense, there's a lot of crazy crap going on, but we're gonna play it anyway. In 'Hail Hail,' Ed changes the words to, "You can only be as good as I'll let you ..." 'DTE' is totally mangled (rather hilariously); instead of going into "I'm a thief, I'm a liar," Ed starts the whole thing over again from the first verse, and it tends to disintegrate again, but they salvage it in the end. 'Save it for Later' is extremely extended, and goes straight into the first playing (other than a tag) of 'Push Me Pull Me'! At the end, he says, "Fuck, I forget the rest ..." and yep, he forgets the lyrics at the very end. Stone applauds Jeff and Ed at the end. Ed refers to a show PJ played at JC Dobbs, a local Philly club [7/12/91]: "It sure has been a nice couple of nights, are we in Philly or Jersey - where the fuck are we?! Philadelphia? (and everyone goes nuts) This is an old song, it was written before we played at Dobbs (crowd cheers). There were only 30 or so people there, so quit lying!" and then they play 'Better Man.' 'RITFW': "There's a thousand points of light for the east coast man, there's a kinder, gentler security man's hand." Mike finishes the song rolling around on his back, putting his guitar down and shaking it wildly.

San Fran I '06

The 2006 bootleg section has been updated with the first of a three night run in San Francisco, CA. Three exceptional shows form a great tour!

07/15/06 - Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, San Francisco, CA, USA
opening act: Sonic Youth
Ed pre-set: Dead Man
set: Of the Girl, Go, World Wide Suicide, Save You, Severed Hand, Corduroy, Given To Fly, Unemployable, Sad, Gone, Not For You/(Modern Girl), State of Love and Trust, Gods' Dice, Present Tense, Comatose, Why Go, Do The Evolution
first encore: Even Flow, Parachutes, Footsteps, Once, Alive
second encore: Wasted Reprise, Life Wasted, Spin The Black Circle, Bu$hleaguer, Indifference, Rockin' In The Free World, Yellow Ledbetter/(Star-Spangled Banner)
TFT Notes: Pearl Jam opens their three-night stint in San Francisco with "Of the Girl", played for the first time since the 10/22/03 Benaroya Hall show. Ed greets the crowd before "Given To Fly", "Hello, hello San Francisco! Cheers, cheers... I'm gonna drink to you. It's been a number of years - I think the number is eight or something since we've played San Francisco proper - and you've sold out this venue three times which is more people than you could fit in the old Shoreline, so we're greatly appreciative of that, for your support. And I just thought we'd land the plane quickly so we could say that and now it's time to get it off the ground once again, this song's called 'Given To Fly.'" Song breakout time, and Ed introduces "Gods' Dice" which is played for the first time since Boston 2003: "Here's a number for whatever reason we haven't done it in years, we're gonna do it now." The floor arrangement at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium is general admission (no seats), and Ed sees an "I've Got A Feeling" sign, saying "Alright, you've got a feeling tonight, you've given us a feeling. Kille, can we just take a look at who we got here tonight for a second? (house lights up, cheers) Ya know, it's not every show that there's an open floor like this. In fact, it rarely happens these days for us. The fact that there's almost equal amounts of men and women on the front is testimony to the fact that you guys are taking good care of yourselves on the bottom. No one appreciates that more than we do. So thanks for taking care of one another." Ed then points out a special guest in the house, "it's my uncle, who's names Fred. Freddy. Freddy Vedder. I'm gonna see him after, I didn't see him before. (spotlight starts moving across the crowd) That him? Hey freddy. (light keeps moving, Ed giving instructions) Spotlight ... over left ... that way ... more, more, more, more ... down. (Big cheer and drum roll by Matt) We found him! (crowd then starts "Fred-dy" chant) No one deserves it more. I'm gonna dedicate this next song to him and his lovely woman", leading to "Parachutes". Before "Bu$hleaguer", Ed sings "Hey there Georgie boy / why do all the girls just pass you by / all you do is spread your wings / and you could fly away / the world would see a new Georgie boy". After "Indifference" Ed says that "it's been a pleasure playing not only a metropolitan city, but in the arts ... over the history of music and literature and education. To play here to this crowd, thank you so much."

2006 Bootlegs!

Seven shows have been added to the 2006 bootleg section! These shows are available here in FLAC format only. They are also available in high quality MP3s on this thread over at "The Pit". I didn't want to take the time to convert these to MP3 when they are already available else where. Eventually, every show from the 2006 tour will be available here in FLAC format. Enjoy the shows!

06/26/06 - Xcel Energy Center, St. Paul, MN, USA
opening for: Tom Petty
set: Last Exit, Life Wasted, Why Go, World Wide Suicide, Do The Evolution, Given To Fly, I Am Mine, Army Reserve, Even Flow, Better Man, Sad, Sleight of Hand, Daughter/(I Won't Back Down), Jeremy, Comatose, Alive, Rockin' in the Free World
TFT Notes: This show is the first of six shows in support of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. The first notes of "Last Exit" start with Ed exclaiming "Let's get it on!". "Do the Evolution" goes a little off course during the verses, and Ed sings "Admire me / Admire my home / Forgive me / It's my own fault". Ed references the first show of the PJ/Petty tour, "I know there's a few kind people who are dedicated to our group and they travel different places to see us. And that's what our group is gonna be doing for the next couple of weeks. We're gonna be travellin' around seeing Tom Petty and we're proud to be on the same stage and looking forward to this little trip here." "Given To Fly" is dedicated to "Tom and the Heartbreakers, thanks for taking us along for the ride." Ed previews "Army Reserve" with "It's hard to read the paper and it's hard to be an American without thinking about some of our fellow countrymen who are over dealing with an intense situation. As we're here enjoy ourselves, this goes out to them. These are the army reservists and soldiers over there doing what they can do." Ed later jokes "Just think if (Tom) was my dad, my name would be 'Eddie Petty' (crowd laughs). But I would have grown up in a really nice house, so I would have dealt with it I guess." With the crowd an equal share of Pearl Jam and Tom Petty fans, Ed plays the chords to "Better Man" more quietly than usual, asks the crowd to singalong, and the crowd sings the first verse and chorus just fine. The "Daughter" tag includes the chorus of Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down" repeated twice. Jeff starts to play the bass line to the "It's OK" tag, but the song quiets down to its end shortly thereafter. After "Alive", Ed wraps up the show prior to the final song, "You've been very kind. This is the first night of this experiment. So far we like the conclusion - the hypothesis was good, but.... thank you very much, each and every one of you. Thanks. And for us, we're one song away from relaxing and getting to go to a rock show ourselves, we can't wait. this is just a great great night, so thank you very much." Before starting "Rockin' in the Free World" though, Ed interjects and references the recent donation of $37 billion by Warren Buffett to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Energizing the crowd, he pleads with them to "say 'thank you' to that state of mind. How exciting to see rich guys being responsible and caring. It's 'sexy' is what it is. It's beautiful. Here's to Warren Buffett. We hope it spreads. This song's by a friend of Tom's, and a friend of ours." During the song, he changes the words "There's a billion points of light for the homeless man / finally a rich man with a gentle hand." Ed later joined Tom Petty during his set with vocals on "American Girl."

06/27/06 - Xcel Energy Center, St. Paul, MN, USA
opening for: Tom Petty
set: (Interstellar Overdrive)/Corduroy, Severed Hand, Hail Hail, Love Boat Captain, World Wide Suicide, Marker in the Sand, Given To Fly, Even Flow, Light Years, Not For You, Elderly Woman..., Come Back, State of Love and Trust, Glorified G, Black, Life Wasted, Alive
TFT Notes: About one minute of Pink Floyd's "Interstellar Overdrive" starts the shows, leading directly into "Corduroy". Jeff adds the bass lines from Queen/Bowie's "Under Pressure" to the end of "Hail, Hail". Ed introduces Boom as the "Love Boat Captain" and modifies the lyrics to the common "let the show begin." Mike McCready's guitar goes out half-way through "Marker in the Sand". Following the song, Ed introduces "Mike McCready on guitar over there (pointing)" and finally Mike's guitar pops on, continuing "Alright, the guitar wasn't working but the guitar is now working. I was about to accuse the Heartbreakers of sabotage, but why am I so paranoid?" leading to "Given To Fly". "Light Years" is dedicated to Baseball Sportswriter, ESPN Analyist and Pearl Jam fan Peter Gammons, who was stricken with a brain aneurysm earlier in the day, "I know all his friends are sending out their energies to him and if I could get you as a collective to just send a bit more energy his way, out in the northeast, Peter this is for you, it's called 'Light Years'." "Not For You" includes the modified lines "Small my table, it now seats three / Oh, she's my payback, oh lucky me". The music for the "Modern Girl" tag is played for a few bars, but the lyrics are not sung. As it is Ed's habit to dedicate "Elderly Woman..." to small towns in the vicinity of the concert, this dedication is a little different, saying "If this is indeed the 'land of a thousand lakes', this is for lake number nine-hundred and ninety three." "Life Wasted" is tweaked a little with Ed imploring the crowd "don't let the sad song play." Ed thanks tonight's split PJ/Petty crowd again before "Alive", "Here's a toast to all our friends out there, here's a toast to all the friends of Tom Petty of which we include ourselves. Have a great rest of the evening, so glad we could be part of this." Ed later joined Tom Petty during his set with vocals on "The Waiting" (though, apparently his microphone was not on) and "American Girl."

second encore: Last Kiss, Comatose, Leash, Big Wave, Rockin' in the Free World, Yellow Ledbetter
TFT Notes: During "Better Man", the crowd sings the first verse and chorus well enough to have Ed laud them with "That's fuckin beautiful, thank you so much." "Satan's Bed" is introduced as "a surf song in a way", continuing "Living in Seattle, all surf songs have to either have at least one thing: either waves, cars or the devil - or girls or the devil, or girls that are the devil - this one's the devil." The "Rearviewmirror" jam has Ed singing "Time heals the wounds that no one can see (3x) / I will forgive (2x) / we can all forgive." Ed starts the first encore with a long dialogue prior to "Long Road", detailing his relationship with Clayton E. Liggett (Ed's high school drama teacher and the inspiration for "Long Road") and explaining that this show's proceeds are going to benefit that theater. Ed continues to say that when he received a call with the news of Liggett's death, he escaped to a studio (during the Neil Young "Mirrorball" recording sessions) and just started hitting the opening D-chords of "Long Road" as if he was "trying to ring a bell to say that 'We lost one of the good ones'", and after "about eight minutes" the rest of the band just joined in without saying a word and the roots of the song were born. "Long Road" is dedicated to Liggett, and a powerful "Come Back" follows. "Elderly Woman..." is dedicated to "small towns" such as "Olivenhain, Chula Vista, Fallbrook" and "all you one-liquor-store kinda towns." After "Crazy Mary", Ed marvels at Mike's guitar working saying that "it's science ... but believe it or not but I just lit my cigarette off Mike McCready's amp." Closing the first encore, Stone Gossard is toasted as the one who wrote "the last one" ("Crown of Thorns") and "the next one" ("Alive"). Ed explains the risk he takes when mentioning past and future concerts, saying "the next gig's in Los Angeles, they've got their work cut out for them. You see what I do? I bad-mouth the crowd the night before (Ed earlier dissed Las Vegas mentioning his own health problems) and I'm bad-mouthing even the crowd we're gonna play for. But I promise to you - wine over my heart - I will never say nothing bad about you here tonight." "Big Wave" is the last song off of Pearl Jam to premiere, and Ed explains that "we were waiting until we got to the coast." Surfer Kelly Slater guests on "Rockin' in the Free World", and Ed mentions that Kelly took him out on waves "so big it put the future of our band in jeopardy."

Camden I 1998

The 1998 bootleg section has been updated with the 8/28/1998 show in Camden, New Jersey. The first of a two night stint in the shit hole that is Camden. They do manage to put on some decent shows in this decrepit town though. This one is currently available in FLAC only. The MP3's should be available later today or tomorrow at the latest. Enjoy!

8/28/98 - Blockbuster Music Entertainment Centre: Camden, NJ [122m]attendance: 25,000
support act: Mudhoney, Iggy Pop
soundcheck: no soundcheck today due to Ed's voice
set: Release, Animal, Hail Hail, Given To Fly, Corduroy, MFC, I Got Shit, Even Flow, Jeremy, Daughter/(Suck You Dry)/(WMA), Off He Goes, Immortality, Rearviewmirror, Brain of J, Black, Better Man, Alive
enc 1: (Sweet Home Alabama), (Philadelphia Freedom), Hard to Imagine, Wishlist, Last Exit, Go, Leaving Here, Once, Elderly Woman
enc 2: Porch
notes: The 'Daughter' improv is Mudhoney's 'Suck You Dry and' Ed mentions he is glad to do 'WMA' because one of his favorite episodes of "Cops" happened in Philadelphia. After 'Immortality,' Ed says, "Mike McCready! Matt Cameron!" then he blows his nose and says, "Snot!" [Apparently, Ed's been a little sick.] Before they play 'HtI,' Ed comes out and says, "Fuck, it's been years. We'll play anything you want," and they bust into a few chords of Lynyrd Skynyrd's 'Sweet Home Alabama' (with Ed asking, "Isn't that what caused the Civil War?") and then a snippet of 'Philadelphia Freedom' by Elton John! 'Leaving Here' is dedicated it to a girl Ed met while walking around in his sports coat earlier. He said she knew what it was about and the rest of the crowd should just enjoy the song. After 'Once,' Ed says, "Sometimes it's fun to have the big speakers and the stage, because it can be fun to tell people to fuck off. But you guys don't deserve that, because you guys have been the best crowd that Iggy Pop's had - not in his life, and thanks for being polite to Mudhoney, they came all the way out from Seattle." [The crowd gave Iggy a standing ovation at the end of his set, a sensational performance of Chuck Berry's 'Johnny B. Goode.'] No 'DTE' tonight; 'Elderly Woman' is dedicated to "all the people that have a long way to drive to get back home after the show." Ed goes into a long tirade about the fucked up state of the world, how bad the news is, about all the bombings that've been going on and says the Liberty Bell is going to be the next terrorist bomb attack, leading to: "... the last thing I'm gonna say is 1, 2, 3, 4" and 'Porch' is next. 'Porch' lyrics are modified to, "I just need to say ..."

Red Rocks II 1995

The 1995 bootleg section has been update with the 6/20/1995 show in Morrison, CO at the Red Rocks ampitheather! This is one of those legendary shows that every Pearl Jam fan should have in their collection. There is also a DVD of this show floating around that you want to try to get as well. If I get a chance maybe I'll upload that and make it available here. Never did a DVD on megaupload before but I think it could work. Anyway, this show is available in MP3 and FLAC as usual. Enjoy the show!

06/20/95 - Red Rocks Amphitheater: Morrison, CO [132m]
attendance: 9,000
support act: Bad Religion
set: Long Road, Jeremy (new), Ship Song, Footsteps, Falling Down, Better Man, Last Exit, Spin the Black Circle, Animal, Tremor Christ, Corduroy, Not for You, Go, State of Love and Trust, Daughter/(This Boy), Garden, I've Just Seen a Face (Ed solo), Alive, Whipping, Lukin, Rearviewmirror/Improv (Words Seem Out of Place), Elderly Woman, Blood
enc 1: Black, Porch, Immortality
enc 2: Indifference
notes: PJ performs their first six songs seated, experiencing some of the effects of the altitude and taking a different approach from the previous night. 'Ship Song' is by Nick Cave. They get frustrated being seated (Stone declares, "All right, "fuck the seats") and they dump the chairs as they launch into 'Last Exit.' The 'Falling Down' tune surfaces five years later, forming the melody for the song 'Distress' on The Rockfords album. 'RVM' is interrupted to break up a fight. ("What are you guys fighting for? This is a rock and roll concert.") PJ picks up the song right where they left off. A new, slower version of 'Jeremy' is premiered here. The impromptu 'I've Just Seen a Face,' a Beatles' tune, is sung by Ed a capella. 'This Boy' is a song by an LA band, That Dog. Ed's parting comment: "Thanks for coming up to the mountain with us."

Back in business... 1994 Bootleg Update!

In The Present Tense is back to doing what we love! Sharing some live Pearl Jam. Hopefully you're all caught up on you downloads and ready for more. Starting it off right where we left off with a 1994 bootleg update. Now available in both FLAC and MP3 in the 1994 section:

03/17/94 - Elliot Hall: Purdue University: West Lafayette, IN [120m]
support act: Grant Lee Buffalo
set: Wash, Animal, Go, Why Go, Deep, Jeremy, Glorified G, Black, Blood, Dissident, State of Love and Trust, Even Flow, Tremor Christ, Daughter/(Improv), Alive, Rearviewmirror, Not for You, Garden, Leash, Porch
enc: Once, Rockin' in the Free World, Indifference
notes: PJ insisted on a large quantity of these tickets going to Purdue University students and TM only had approximately 1,000 for sale. With the show beginning late due to a bomb scare, PJ arrives on stage announcing that everyone is free to leave and get a refund. Ed is wearing war paint up and down his legs and his eyes are blackened like a raccoon. The 'Daughter' tag is the 'You're in My Body' improv. Halfway through the show, Ed says something like, "I don't know if you guys are feeling this, but we certainly are. Musically, this might be the best show we have ever played. Thank you." He also gives a speech about 'Dissident' - saying that date rape is terrible and explaining that a woman's word is sacred and the no means no and that's what a "holy no" is. An unbelievable show with great crowd interaction, nearly getting out of control when a huge group of people charge one of the aisles during 'RitFW.'

St. Louis I & II '94

The 1994 bootleg section has been updated with both of the St. Louis shows, 3/14/1994 and 3/15/1994. Both shows are available in both FLAC and MP3 formats. Setlist and show notes provided by Two Feet Thick are below. Enjoy the music!!
support act: The Frogs and Grant Lee Buffalo
set: Release, Go, Animal, Dissident, Even Flow, Why Go, Jeremy, improv, Glorified G, Daughter/(Beginning to See the Light)/(WMA), Blood, jam, Breath, State of Love and Trust, Black, Alive
enc: Not For You, Rearviewmirror, Elderly Woman, Porch
notes: Ed joins The Frogs during their set for 'I Only Play for Money.' The improv is sung by Ed with very quiet music being played by the band, and is tagged with lyrics from The Beatles' somewhat obscure single, 'You Know My Name.' At one point, Ed's legs become so wrapped up in the mic cord that Jeff and Stone have to rescue him. Ed introduces 'Blood' as, "Spelled backwards, this song is doolb." The jam following 'Blood' is instrumental and 'Breath' is very different, ending with a cool jam. During 'Porch,' Ed marks up the band members' faces with a burnt cork.
support act: The Frogs
set: Why Go, Deep, Animal, Once, Rats, Blood, Glorified G, Daughter/(The Real Me), Alive, Go, Even Flow, Spin the Black Circle, Porch/Beginning to See the Light, Corduroy, Rearviewmirror, Black, Leash/Improv, I'm One, Baba O'Riley
notes: Ed joins The Frogs during their set: they start 'Jeremy' and Ed is lowered by a rope or cable onto the stage like he's flying, wearing the gold bat wings. He picks up a microphone and joins in. He also contributes to 'I Only Play for Money' and one other song, plus 'I'm One' (just Ed and Dennis).Lively, fun performance with Ed very animated and venturing to the edge of the stage to touch the audience as early as the second song. He does an airplane spin with one of the fans. 'Go' is dedicated to Kurt Cobain and 'Corduroy' is premiered. After assisting Dave on drums during 'Porch,' Ed gives one of the band's tall, white candles to the crowd, saying he wants to see how far back it will make it. To his enjoyment, the candle is passed to the back of the audience successfully while the band plays a snippet of the Velvet Underground's 'Beginning to See the Light.' Three Who songs are played tonight ('The Real Me', 'I'm One' and 'Baba O'Riley'). Cool show in a beautiful venue, which Ed acknowledges twice.

3/13/94

The 1994 bootleg section has been updated with the March 13th show in Chicago! The show is available in both FLAC and MP3. Two Feet Thick notes are provided below:

03/13/94 - New Regal Theater: Chicago, IL [140m]
attendance: 2,500
support act: The Frogs, Magic Slim and the Teardrops
set: Oceans, Go, Last Exit, Once, Even Flow, Rats, State of Love and Trust, Breath, Glorified G, Daughter/(You're in My Body improv)/(WMA), Animal, Not for You, Elderly Woman, Alive, Improv (I'm All Alone), Spin the Black Circle
enc 1: Hard to Imagine, Yellow Ledbetter, Rearviewmirror, Alone, Black/instrumental jam/Porch/(Tearing)
enc 2: Angel
notes: Ed joins The Frogs in 'I Only Play for Money.' Suffering from a cold and clutching a Kleenex box, he advises, "Don't drink when you're sick ... and don't get sick when you drink. Advice for the kids." He introduces 'Animal' as it being about Jeff "taking on the Chicago Bulls." During 'Porch,' he climbs up to the balcony (of this ornate old theater and takes a flying leap. The crowd seems to instantly envelop him, then back away a little bit and he's laying on the floor in the aisle completely limp. The is jamming along not even really watching, but when he doesn't immediately get up, Jeff gets a really concerned look on his face and scans the crowd for a sign of Ed. Eventually, two security guys go into the crowd and grab Ed, who is still limp, and literally drag him back to the stage, depositing him in a pile behind the mic stand. Everyone is going nuts and after about 60 tense seconds of Ed laying in a heap, he begins to move, swaying to the groove. He gets to his knees grooving; unsteadily to his feet, grooving, hair a pulsating mass. And them wham! "Hear my name, take a good look," and the capacity crowd literally roars in unison. As an encore, he returns on a skateboard with Dave, who accompanies him on guitar on the rarely played 'Angel,' closing the show.

Bootleg Update!

The 1994 bootleg section has been updated with the 3/7 Denver show and the 3/9 Pensacola show. Both shows are available in FLAC and MP3 formats! Enjoy!!

attendance: 2,000
support act: The Frogs
set: Oceans, Go, Animal, Breath, Why Go, Blood, Garden, Not for You, Rearviewmirror, Why Go, Jeremy, Alive, (Sick o' Pussies)/Porch/(WMA), Spin the Black Circle, Glorified G, Daughter/(Rats)/(jam), Street Fightin' Man, Rockin' in the Free World, Indifference
notes: 'Spin the Black Circle' and 'Not for You' premier. During 'Blood,' Jeff jumps on top of Dave's kickdrum. Ed gives a short speech before 'Not for You' hinting that he wrote it after receiving mail from a convicted rapist saying how great the band was, and he talks briefly about David Gunn before 'Alive.' Mike smashes his guitar after 'Porch.' A mean version of 'Rats' follows 'Daughter.' Stone(?) notes, "We've never played this one in its entirety, but we're gonna try tonight," leading to a 11+ minute cover/jam of 'Street Fightin' Man.' Ed picks up some sticks during the end and drums a bit. Reportedly, Stone's baggy shorts fall and remain at his ankles as he's shredding rhythms. Mike is facing Stone, just ripping. Ed comes from the side and proceeds to wrap Mike in duct tape from his knees down. They continue to jam and Mike decides to lie down on the stage while a roadie pulls Mike's pants down. Mike goes after Jeff, lifting him off the ground via his BVD waistband. Ed dons a Bill Clinton mask!
>
attendance: 8,000
support act: L7 and Follow For Now
set: I Won't Back Down, Go, Animal, Even Flow, Dissident, State of Love and Trust, Glorified G, Daughter/(WMA), Blood, Why Go, Jeremy, Black, Alive
enc 1: David Gunn Jr. speech, Rearviewmirror, Elderly Woman, Porch/(Tearing)

enc 2: Indifference
notes: PJ reportedly received death threats prior to this performance. Ed starts the show off with a solo cover of Tom Petty's 'I Won't Back Down,' commenting "You know why we're here." Ed discusses pro-choice a bit, ending with, "... all these men trying to control women's bodies are really beginning to piss me off ... they're not in touch with what's real. Well, I'm fucking mean and I'm ugly and my name is reality." This benefit occurred one day prior to the one-year anniversary of the day Dr. David Gunn was shot outside a women's clinic. His son spoke: "You all have the voice. We are the majority. We have the power to take our country back (and to defeat those who) want to take our choices away from us."

Been a while...

So it's been quite a while since we've had an update here on ITPT. Have been doing a little maintenance and getting some things organized on my new 1 TB external hard drive and to be honest just flat out needed a break from uploading shows. Today however we're back in the swing of things with a whole new page for you to visit, download, and enjoy.

ITPT is pleased to make available "The Pearl Jam Bridge School Collection" all on one nicely organized page. Here you will find each of the bands performances, through the years, at the annual Bridge School Benefit at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California. There have been some really amazing performances by the band at this event and now you can easily find them all.

Visit the Pearl Jam Bridge School Collection page to get the shows you want. Each of the shows is available in both FLAC and MP3 (320kbps). Enjoy the shows and consider making a donation to the Bridge School to support a worthy cause. Links are provided on the download page.
